Nuzhat Shahzadi, a coauthor of Visualisation in Participatory Programmes: How to Facilitate and Visualise Participatory Group Processes, shot and compiled the following photo report on VIPP being used to facilitate a planning workshop of Afghan Red Crescent Volunteers held in Herat, Western Afghanistan. Nuzhat and her colleagues from UNICEF were the workshop fascilitators. The participants represented different age groups and gender. VIPP methods created opportunities for girls and women to maximize their participation in mixed groups. Such active participation by female members of the community is traditionally limited by local cultures and practices.
